Future of Marvel Movie Universe

I know I just posted a breakdown of the Marvel storyline but the guys at SlashFilm plus Jeff Cannata of the Totally Rad Show just posted a one-hour discussion on the future of the Marvel Movie Universe.

It’s a great explanation of everything that’s going on. Jeff really knows his stuff when it comes to Marvel Comics and the guys at SlashFilm know all of the rumors and current plans for future films. They make a great team and give you a great idea of where things are going. I highly recommend it, even if you just listen to the first 20 minutes or so.

So you’re going to see a movie…

So you’re going to see a movie, eh? Here’s a list of some things to do before you go:

  • What did other people think of the movie? Check out RottenTomatoes, which shows official reviews and those of normal viewers like you or I. I find it to be an excellent source of ratings.
  • Eat first, or sneak food in! Seriously, don’t waste your money unless you plan on splitting the cost of a refillable bucket of popcorn with some friends. Some people are so pissed about the prices they’re suing concession stands at theaters.
  • Is the movie you’re seeing in 3D? Is it worth it? Check out RealorFake3D. It’ll let you know whether or not the movie was shot in 3D or just converted to it. In my opinion, 3D is rarely worth it. I’ll hold out for the revival of smell-o-vision.
  • Should you stick around after the credits? Sites like AfterCredits and MediaStinger let you know if there’s any clips to stick around for. The link for AfterCredits does its best to hide spoilers. The link for Media Stinger includes a list of applicable movies, so only search out a movie if you don’t mind some possible spoilers!

One more!

  • So you actually went to see Eddie Murphy’s most recent film, and didn’t realize until 20 minutes in that it’s complete crap. Go back to the box office, throw a fit, and get your money back! Optionally, you can also say you were given a ticket for the wrong movie. Complain about noise and distractions, or complain about the fact that Eddie Murphy’s career is dead but you didn’t buy tickets to a funeral. Depending on who you deal with, you can often get your money back as long as you haven’t gotten to the halfway point in the movie.

They Don’t Make Good PG Movies Anymore

Take a look at all the best films rated PG or G. Most were made pre-2000. I miss these great movies. I wish they’d start making them again. You don’t need curse words and sex for a good film. Take a look at this quick list I put together.

  • Back to the Future
  • Clue
  • E.T.
  • Stand by Me
  • The Karate Kid
  • The Princess Bride

  • Goonies
  • Labyrinth
  • The Hunt for Red October
  • Ghostbusters
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • What About Bob?
  • War Games
  • Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
  • Apollo 13
  • Groundhog Day
  • Monty Python And The Holy Grail
  • Airplane
  • Big
  • Hoosiers
  • Rudy

You Guys Disgust Me.

I’m not gonna beat around the bush. Some of you people are disgusting. And I don’t mean the “he doesn’t shower” disgusting. I mean you are despicable human beings. No one has wronged me. I’m not on the defensive, trying to lash back at someone. I just got back into Facebook and Twitter a couple days ago and let me tell you, it’s like walking from the beautiful fresh air outside into an industrial plant full of smog and pollutants.

The things you people post are often very disturbing. I really don’t want to get into specifics to call individuals out, but I ask you, please think before you post. “Does this prove to be a correct representation of myself or my beliefs?” Do you really have such bad morals? Are you really that lazy? Do you really care what he or she thinks, and do you really want everyone to know?

I’m all for the internet, but sites like Facebook and Twitter are not to be taken seriously. You’re not running a business, you’re living your life. Hell, life can’t be taken too seriously. One might argue, “Bill, why are you taking anything that we say seriously?” There’s a very simple answer to that - I know you’re serious when you say it and it’s scary.

I came back to get in contact with some friends from home. Once I was back I could actually notice a change in my brain functions. I wasn’t calm like I was without those sites. So much seemed to be happening at once, and I felt like it was difficult to get a handle on it. So I left. I re-deactivated my Facebook. I can no longer see the merits in it.

Please guys, just think before you post. You look like morons.

Opinions and Garbage

I noticed a change in the people within my networks on social websites over the past couple years. Slowly people began to open up more, speaking up and sharing their opinions on everything. The “like” button and the “retweet” was their fuel. They soon discovered that other people agreed with their opinions, even though they were different. I began to see a new side to many people I didn’t even know was there.

Then it changed, and it changed fast. People began to mistake the “being myself” attitude for the “imma do me” attitude. Those opinions and thoughts became completely unfiltered and people felt fine about it, because they had the encouragement of their peers. Whether their peers supported the posts because they agreed with them or found them entertaining is beside the point. The posts became more frequent and less well thought out. They were written poorly and started to become offensive at times.

It’s gotten bad and this is what social networking has done to our generation. It is a new internet age. Everyone is online now, but it is still evident those of us who have used it for some time and those of us who are still relatively new to it all.

I don’t intend for any of this to sound bigoted, but if you want to consider it another internet complaint go ahead. It may even sound hypocritical but know this: This isn’t some post I spewed out. It’s something that I’ve thought about for some time now, discussed with others, and wrote without the intention of singling out any specific groups of people.

All I ask is that we think of what we are posting before we post it. Yes you have your own blog, news feed, etc. but that does not mean that you should post everything that comes to your mind.

That shit’s for twitter.

Called It - Wireless Media Streams

Note: This is a repost from my old blog. The original was posted September 11, 2010, 11:09 pm. I just wanted you all to know that I called this.

How much longer will it be until I can wirelessly stream an AVI file from my computer straight to a portable device.

I’m currently watching The Expendables. I should be able to “enable wireless media streaming”, access an app on my iPod Touch for Media Stream, and The Expendables should immediately pick up from where it left off.

“But Bill, they pretty much already have that, for movies, TV shows and podcasts in iTunes.”

Yes, but you still need to re-sync your iPod and it only works with certain file formats. In this day and age of Bluetooth, WiFi, and 4G, I shouldn’t have to re-sync. Also, I know AVI’s will never be officially supported on an Apple product, but I can dream can’t I?

Hell I’d jailbreak it if it was possible. Speaking of, know any good reasons to jailbreak my Touch?

Update: So a couple months later what comes out? The VLC Streamer App for the iPhone (Free, Ad-Supported Version Here).

“Sit anywhere in your house and watch movies or TV shows on your iPhone, iPod or iPad.VLC Streamer streams movies from your computer to your iDevice.”
