Called It - Wireless Media Streams
Note: This is a repost from my old blog. The original was posted September 11, 2010, 11:09 pm. I just wanted you all to know that I called this.
How much longer will it be until I can wirelessly stream an AVI file from my computer straight to a portable device.
I’m currently watching The Expendables. I should be able to “enable wireless media streaming”, access an app on my iPod Touch for Media Stream, and The Expendables should immediately pick up from where it left off.
“But Bill, they pretty much already have that, for movies, TV shows and podcasts in iTunes.”
Yes, but you still need to re-sync your iPod and it only works with certain file formats. In this day and age of Bluetooth, WiFi, and 4G, I shouldn’t have to re-sync. Also, I know AVI’s will never be officially supported on an Apple product, but I can dream can’t I?
Hell I’d jailbreak it if it was possible. Speaking of, know any good reasons to jailbreak my Touch?
Update: So a couple months later what comes out? The VLC Streamer App for the iPhone (Free, Ad-Supported Version Here).
“Sit anywhere in your house and watch movies or TV shows on your iPhone, iPod or iPad.VLC Streamer streams movies from your computer to your iDevice.”
